Honoring Those Who Served: Join Us at the 2026 Okanogan County Veterans Stand Down

Join the 2026 Okanogan County Veterans Stand Down for free services, support, and resources honoring those who served our country.
Supporting veterans with care, resources, and community

There are moments when a community comes together not just to help, but to restore dignity, connection, and hope. The Okanogan County Veterans Stand Down is one of those moments.

On April 23, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, local organizations, agencies, and advocates will gather at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds to serve those who have served our country.

At Welcome Home Care, supporting veterans isn’t just something we do; it’s part of who we are. Events like Stand Down reflect the heart of our mission: making sure no veteran feels overlooked, unsupported, or alone.

What Is a Veterans Stand Down?

The term “Stand Down” comes from military life, a pause from the front lines to rest, regroup, and recover.

In the civilian world, it has evolved into something powerful: a one-day, all-in-one resource hub where veterans can access essential services in a safe, welcoming environment.

Think of it as a command center for care—where support is not scattered, but brought together under one roof.

Services Available at the Event

Veterans attending the Stand Down can receive a wide range of free services, including:

  • VA health care support, dental, and vision services
  • Mental health screenings and counseling resources
  • Assistance with VA benefits and income support
  • Housing referrals and employment services
  • Legal aid and substance use support
  • Meals, clothing, and hygiene supplies
  • Mobile services from agencies like DSHS and the Department of Health

This coordinated effort ensures veterans can take meaningful steps toward stability—all in one place, in one day.

Why This Matters

For many veterans, navigating benefits, healthcare, and daily living needs can feel like a maze with no clear map. Events like Stand Down help remove barriers and replace confusion with clarity.

But more than that, they send a message:

You are seen. You are valued. You are not alone.
